Privacy Policy

How we handle business account information, customer lists, email campaigns, and connected sending accounts.

Effective: October 24, 2026

1. Who we are

Kinya Email Studio ("Email Studio," "we," "our," or "us") is an email newsletter and customer-list management application operated by Kinya McDowell. It is available at newsletter.kinyamcdowell.com. Contact us at kinya@kinyamcdowell.com with questions or requests about this Policy.

2. What this Policy covers

This Policy describes personal information handled when someone creates an Email Studio business account, uploads contacts, prepares campaigns, connects an email provider, or receives an email sent through the application. A business using Email Studio is responsible for the contact lists and messages it provides. Depending on applicable privacy laws, we may process recipient information on that business's behalf.

3. Information we collect and process

Do not upload sensitive personal information, payment-card data, health records, or information about children to mailing lists unless an appropriate legal basis and separately agreed safeguards exist.

4. Why we use information

5. How Google account connections work

If you choose Connect Google Account, Google presents its own authorization screen. Email Studio requests identity-related permissions to identify the connected account and the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.send scope to send messages you initiate through Email Studio. This send-only permission does not authorize Email Studio to read your Gmail inbox or delete your messages.

We use the connected Google account email address to identify the sender. The application stores an encrypted Google refresh token so it can request temporary access tokens when sending is authorized. Google may receive the content and recipient details of messages submitted through its Gmail API to deliver them under its services and policies.

We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising or retargeting, or use it to train generalized AI models. Our use and sharing of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

You can disconnect the Google account in Email Studio's Sender Settings and revoke permissions at Google Account connections. Disconnecting stops future use of that connection by Email Studio; existing delivery records may remain for compliance and security purposes.

6. SMTP connections and third-party service providers

If you configure SMTP sending instead, Email Studio stores the server details and encrypted authentication secret needed to connect to that email provider. Email content, sender information, and recipients are transmitted to the provider you select to process and deliver messages.

Our hosting provider and underlying infrastructure may also process information to operate and secure the application. We do not sell customer mailing lists or provide them to unrelated businesses for their own marketing.

7. Email recipients and business responsibilities

Businesses using Email Studio determine which contacts to add, which lists receive a campaign, and the contents of their messages. The sending business must have appropriate permission or other lawful authorization to email recipients, provide accurate sender information, and honor opt-out requests.

Recipients can use the unsubscribe link provided in messages sent through Email Studio. Unsubscribing changes the contact's marketing subscription status in the sending business's Email Studio workspace. It does not necessarily remove the contact's record or stop service-related messages sent independently by that business.

8. Cookies and sessions

Email Studio uses session cookies necessary for sign-in and protecting authenticated sessions. The application is not designed to require advertising cookies for its core features. If additional analytics or tracking technologies are introduced, this Policy should be updated before their use.

9. Security

We use measures designed to protect account and connection information, including HTTPS, account authentication, and encryption of connected email credentials and tokens in the application. No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security. Users should protect their own passwords, restrict access to their workspaces, and contact us if they suspect unauthorized access.

10. Retention and deletion

We keep account, list, campaign, and sending information as needed to provide the service and meet legitimate security, compliance, and recordkeeping requirements. The application currently provides certain list and campaign deletion features, but deletion of a list may not remove the underlying contact record, and delivery records may be retained. Account-wide deletion and backup retention may require a support request rather than a self-service action.

To request access, correction, export, or deletion of your information, contact kinya@kinyamcdowell.com. If you received a message from a business using Email Studio, please contact that business for questions about the data it supplied, or use the unsubscribe link.

11. Children and international visitors

Email Studio is intended for businesses and adults, not for children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information to the service, please contact us. Information may be stored or processed in the United States, where privacy protections may differ from those of your jurisdiction.

12. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or information about how personal data is processed, subject to applicable exceptions. Email us with your request. We may need to verify your identity, and in some cases will refer a recipient request to the sending business that controls its mailing list.

13. Updates

We may update this Policy as the application changes or legal requirements develop. We will publish the revised Policy and effective date here. Material changes to Google data uses may require additional notice or consent before the changed use begins.
